About The Position
As an Ops Landfill Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience in the daily operations of a landfill site, including environmental monitoring, regulatory compliance, data collection, and site maintenance. Requirements
- Currently enrolled in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Sustainability, or related field
- Strong interest in waste management, environmental protection, and sustainability
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Nice To Haves
- Basic understanding of environmental regulations and landfill operations (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily landfill operations including waste inspection, cover application, and equipment monitoring
- Support environmental compliance activities such as groundwater sampling, gas monitoring, and leachate management
- Collect and analyze data related to waste volumes, site conditions, and environmental metrics
- Participate in safety briefings and ensure adherence to site safety protocols
- Help maintain records for regulatory reporting and internal audits
- Shadow landfill leaders and techs to understand site design and expansion planning
- Contribute to sustainability initiatives and community outreach programs
