About The Position

The Materials Science & Analysis Internship offers hands-on experience working alongside RJ Lee Group's analytical scientists in one of the most well-equipped microscopy laboratories in the country. Interns contribute to real client projects by applying the scientific method to assist in items ranging from failure analysis to materials characterization.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline (at least 2 years completed)
  • Familiarity with laboratory environments and analytical techniques preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise technical procedures
  • Ability to work independently on research projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Some coding experience required
  • Must be able to work onsite during the internship period
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Responsibilities

  • Assist scientists with sample preparation including the use of novel instrumentation.
  • Evaluate prepared samples using both optical and electron microscopy for composition, shape, and size
  • Independently work to develop software to interpret microscopy results.
  • Conduct literature reviews to support ongoing materials research projects.
  • Support RJLG Materials Group client work on an as needed basis.
