About The Position

Our Global Internship Programme in Innovation & Sustainability (#IP2TIS) offers a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry while making a positive impact on the world. As an intern, you will contribute to a project focused on supporting Roche’s Sustainability Strategy through the People pillar, with a specific emphasis on workplace health and well-being. The project aims to assess and strengthen site alignment with the WELL At-Scale Standard, a science-based framework that helps organizations create environments that support human health, well-being, and performance. Within your first 3 months, you are expected to help evaluate the site against the 10 WELL concept areas, support baseline scoring for selected buildings, benchmark results against other Roche or Genentech sites, and contribute to recommendations and reporting for leadership teams. Your work will help identify practical opportunities to improve the work environment and demonstrate Roche’s commitment to the health and well-being of its people. This internship offers a unique opportunity to apply a globally recognized framework to a meaningful sustainability challenge with visible organizational impact. This internship position is located in Hillsboro, on-site.

Requirements

  • You are enrolled or have completed your Master’s studies at a university, preferably in the field of Building Sciences, Engineering, Utilities Management, Sustainability, Environment, Health and Safety within the last 12 months and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship of at least 3 months.
  • Familiar with the WELL At-Scale methodology and toolkit.
  • Knowledgeable about building systems, including HVAC, renewable energy systems, lighting, thermal comfort, sound, and community-related aspects.
  • Strong in qualitative and quantitative analysis and comfortable working with performance metrics and reporting.
  • Passionate about sustainability and interested in employee health and well-being.
  • An independent and collaborative communicator with strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills and fluent English.

Responsibilities

  • Build an understanding of the WELL At-Scale Standard, its methodology, and certification approach
  • Evaluate the site’s alignment with the 10 WELL Standard concept areas
  • Work with the campus to identify which building or buildings should participate in a baseline score assessment
  • Compare the site’s WELL Score against other Roche or Genentech site benchmarks
  • Recommend strategies for using WELL tools to strengthen local health and wellness programs
  • Use performance metrics and reports to track site progress and identify improvement opportunities
  • Contribute to meetings, brainstorming sessions, and cross-functional collaboration related to sustainability and innovation
  • Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings and recommendations for leadership teams

  • The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Oregon is $21.00-$35.00 per hour.
  • Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
  • This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
