About The Position

Calpine Corporation is America's largest generator of electricity from natural gas and geothermal resources with operations in competitive power markets. Requirements

  • Completed a Bachelor of Science degree in geoscience with coursework in structural geology and field geology.
  • Actively enrolled in a Masters or above program, working on an advanced degree with a defined interest in subsurface reservoir characterization.
  • Demonstrated experience with digital geologic map making and a strong structural geology background.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and digital mapping software.
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS and AutoCAD is a plus.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S. now and in the future for any company.
  • Willingness to work as a team with good writing and communication skills.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and have the ability to drive mountainous, winding, narrow roads.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Resource Group by creating ArcGIS maps from legacy hard copy data.
  • Digitize selected well information now available in only hard copy form.
  • Create GIS information usable on tablets in the Geysers steam field.
  • Obtain digital data from various sources and consolidate them in a geodatabase.
