The Electrical Design Engineer Internship at Tesla offers a unique opportunity for students pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and innovative environment. This internship is expected to start around January or February 2025 and will continue through the entire Spring term, potentially extending into the Summer if available. Interns are required to commit to a minimum of 12 weeks of full-time, on-site work, which is essential for maximizing the learning experience and contributing effectively to the team. The internship program is designed to foster technical, professional, and personal growth, allowing interns to work closely with their managers and mentors on critical projects that impact Tesla's success. Interns will have the chance to work in various teams, including Battery Electronics, Interiors Engineering, and Drive Inverter, each focusing on different aspects of electrical design engineering. The Battery Electronics team is responsible for designing High-Voltage-Controller PCBs that are crucial for safety management and battery management functions in Tesla's automotive and energy products. Interns will collaborate with cross-functional teams to take designs from concept to mass production, contributing innovative ideas and proof of concepts. In the Interiors Engineering team, interns will engage in designing and debugging systems and circuits used in Tesla vehicles, pushing the boundaries of lighting, switches, and haptics technology. The Drive Inverter team focuses on designing power electronics that ensure efficient and reliable vehicle performance. Interns will be involved in delivering component designs that meet system-level performance requirements, gaining valuable experience in high voltage power electronics and circuit design.
