About The Position

The Business Associate will support business development and the management of strategic partnerships. S/he will also identify new funding opportunities by conducting targeted research, writing proposals and presentations, and developing strategic plans. The Business Associate will report to the VP and work with the Business Manager for Strategic Alliances and Business Development. The Associate will contribute to the continued success of HDI's mission – to advance medicine and society by enabling inventive physician-scientists to turn their discoveries into medicines that improve human health – and the expansion of The Harrington Project

Requirements

  • Post-Graduate degree (Required)
  • 2+ years Knowledge of medical research at a graduate level (Required)
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project) (Required proficiency)

Nice To Haves

  • MD or PhD experience (Preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, venture capital, or consulting with a background in a startup or entrepreneurial services / accelerator environment. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of startup financing (Preferred proficiency)
  • Exposure to venture philanthropy/ impact investing (Preferred proficiency)
  • Demonstrated understanding of growth and commercialization challenges of a startup (Preferred proficiency)
  • Experience evaluating therapeutics research proposals to support due diligence processes (Preferred proficiency)

Responsibilities

  • Create content and strategic plans to support developing partnerships initiatives and new funding opportunities
  • Develop strategies in support of active sourcing initiative
  • Support existing partnership programs and establishment of new collaborations
  • Maintain the confidentiality of information generated by UH, its scholars and Harrington grantees and alumni
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
