American National Insurance Company was founded in 1905 and is headquartered in Galveston, TX, with several locations across the US: League City, TX, Houston, TX, Springfield, MO, and Glenmont, NY. Our Internship Program is designed to provide young professionals with corporate experience that is not offered in the classroom. In addition to supporting their respective department, each intern will have the opportunity to attend professional development sessions, volunteer within the community, and attend company-sponsored social events. Our 2026 summer internship program begins on Monday, June 1st and ends on Friday, August 7th. Intern positions are paid hourly with a full-time schedule (Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week) for the entirety of the program. The Actuarial team plays a critical role in maintaining the company's profitability through the use of data and analytics, leading to a more accurate and efficient decision-making process. Working as part of a cross-functional team, team members evaluate risk, set appropriate pricing, analyze trends and patterns, use predictive models to forecast future risks and trends, and enhance overall operational efficiency and effectiveness. In this role, you will contribute to the development and enhancement of annuity analytics solutions by designing and implementing technical tools and models that support data-driven decision-making. You'll work across platforms such as Excel, Access, SQL Server, Python, and GGY AXIS to build scalable and efficient analytics capabilities.

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited institution
  • Must hold a Junior standing or higher (May 2026 grads are welcome)
  • Must possess a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must be able to commit 37.5 hours per week Monday-Friday
  • Must be able to work onsite in the posted location of the role
  • Pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Access, Word) is a must
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Sound problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter
  • Strong organization skills & attention to detail with high-level accuracy
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and balance changing priorities
  • Bonus points for having completed actuarial-focused courses, obtained VEE credits, or passed an actuarial exam
