Our informal mentor program gives interns an opportunity to network throughout Baird and learn about all the areas of the firm. Team Overview: The Financial Planning and Analysis (“FP&A”) team monitors the financial performance of Baird’s businesses, and using key metrics and operating results, provides financial analysis and advice to assist with operating and strategic decisions. In addition to current results, FP&A prepares forward looking information including the budget to illustrate future trends in the business. The team works with other Baird departments gathering information to evaluate trends and business opportunities. Internship Location, Availability and Hours: Located in our downtown Milwaukee office, interns must be flexible to work a minimum of 15-20 daytime hours per week during the Spring and Fall semesters and 37.5-40 daytime hours per week during breaks and summer. We are looking for a student that can start as soon as April/May 2026. As an Accounting/Finance Intern, you will:

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business degree
  • Anticipated graduation date of May 2027 or later
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively as a team player
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities and meet specific deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and reliability with a drive for continuous improvement
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and troubleshooting skills

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the monthly close including generating system reports, creating journal entries, and performing variance analysis
  • Support budget process and forecasting next year’s income statement
  • Conduct reporting and analysis for Baird’s Private Wealth Management business unit by maintaining historical financial and operational data and supporting ad-hoc client requests
  • Perform special projects and other duties, as assigned
