About The Position

The Internet Tech Support Representative I position at Mediacom Communications involves providing technical support to customers over the phone in a call center environment. The role focuses on assisting customers with internet and phone service-related issues, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction through effective troubleshooting and problem resolution. The position starts with six months of on-site training, followed by a hybrid work schedule that includes both remote and in-office work.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; 2-year degree preferred.
  • 1+ year of prior customer service or technical support experience; cable industry experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in an inbound call center environment preferred.
  • Ability to multitask effectively, including speaking, typing, and navigating multiple platforms.
  • Knowledge of common consumer internet software, including various browsers and email platforms preferred.
  • Basic understanding of internet, networking, and email protocols.
  • Strong customer service skills, including effective listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to type 30+ WPM.
  • Shift flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft Office experience a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving or organizational skills.
  • Understanding of basic accounting mathematics.

Responsibilities

  • Take incoming calls to assist customers with technical service-related problems.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while guiding customers through hardware and software configurations.
  • Identify the root cause of customer issues using multiple tools while keeping the customer engaged.
  • Schedule on-site service calls when necessary.
  • Meet or exceed attendance and sales goals.
  • Enter sales, upgrades, or service changes quickly and accurately.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
