International Vice President The International Vice President provides strategic leadership for BYU’s global engagement and lifelong learning initiatives. Serving on the President’s Council and the Academic Vice President’s Council, the role guides university priorities, policies, and academic matters with international impact. Key responsibilities include providing stewardship for the David M. Kennedy Center and its academic programs, global study experiences, and international travel safety; strengthening relationships with global partners, dignitaries, and leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint (Church); providing stewardship for international outreach and performing arts tours; and providing executive stewardship for the Division of Continuing Education, including online learning, youth programs, and major conferences.

  • University Councils Serve as a member of both the President’s Council and the Academic Vice President’s Council, providing: Strategic leadership and direction on institutional priorities. Informed counsel on key university policies, initiatives, and directives. Strategic direction on academic matters as they relate to the university’s international connections and global engagement.
  • Interdisciplinary International Efforts Provide leadership and stewardship for the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies, including: Academic programs: seven majors (six with minors) and five stand-alone minors. International Study Programs, including study abroad, international internships, student exchanges, and individual international experiences. BYU London Centre coordination. Global Security, health, and safety management, including approval of international travel and oversight of all BYU travel-related security and health protocols.
  • Building Relationships: Global Church Lead and coordinate efforts that strengthen the university’s relationship with the international friends of BYU and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Church), including: Hosting international visitors and dignitaries, including ambassadorial delegations. Coordination of international diplomatic scholarships. Engagement initiatives in university priority countries. BYU Performing Arts Management, including touring ensembles such as the Ballroom Dance Company, Folk Dance Ensemble, Living Legends, Young Ambassadors, Vocal Point, and Noteworthy. Coordinating with the Church area presidencies.
  • Lifelong Learning Provide executive stewardship for the Division of Continuing Education, including: Academic programs through the Salt Lake Center, Evening School, Bachelor of General Studies, BYU Online, Independent Study, and BYU High School online. Youth programs, including Especially for Youth (EFY), For the Strength of Youth (FSY). Conferences and workshops such as BYU Women’s Conference, Education Week, and other large-scale events.
  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
  • Master’s degree in international relations or global studies, higher education administration, global affairs/public administration, or a related degree.
  • 10 years’ experience in higher education or a related educational environment.
