About The Position

Key Responsibilities: • Develop and update trade and training policies, while maintaining internal customs compliance manuals for all locations • Manage intricate documentation and ensure accuracy in compliance matters • Stay updated about and interpreting changes in trade laws such as export controls • Oversee the accurate classification of imported and exported parts • Responsible for identifying and conducting risk assessments and implementing strategies to prevent violations and mitigate potential penalties • Perform regular audits of trade activities to identify and address compliance issues • Lead weekly customs update meetings with key stakeholders • Train key personnel across the enterprise to ensure compliance with applicable customs laws and regulations • Team up with related functions (e.g., Purchasing) to ensure company alignment on decision making impacting downstream customs related work (e.g., tariff impact on company purchasing decisions) Required Skills: • Strong analytical skills needed to assess complex regulations and develop effective resolutions for trade-related compliance issues • Deep understanding of customs regulations, export controls, and international trade agreements • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply general rules of interpretation for classifying parts • Excellent customer service and communication skills to manage and foster relationships with customs brokers and other vendors as well as collaboration with internal teams • Ability to identify and resolve trade-related compliance issues • Detail oriented and deadline driven • Critical thinking, analytical, leadership, planning, project management, and organizational skills

Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills needed to assess complex regulations and develop effective resolutions for trade-related compliance issues
  • Deep understanding of customs regulations, export controls, and international trade agreements
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply general rules of interpretation for classifying parts
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills to manage and foster relationships with customs brokers and other vendors as well as collaboration with internal teams
  • Ability to identify and resolve trade-related compliance issues
  • Detail oriented and deadline driven
  • Critical thinking, analytical, leadership, planning, project management, and organizational skills
  • 5+ years of import/export compliance experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive experience is highly desirable.
  • LCB, CES, or CCP
  • Experience working in the automotive manufacturing industry preferred
