About The Position

Covenant Christian Academy offers a Christian and Classical education that builds students academic, spiritual, and social foundations for lives marked by leadership and service in todays global community. A Covenant education prepares students to excel in collegiate studies and intellectual pursuits, nurtures Christian faith and character, and fosters individual gifts and abilities. Covenant Christian Academy is seeking a full-time International Student Program (ISP) Coordinator and ESL Teacher to support and strengthen our growing International Student Program. This role will serve both as a teacher for English Language Learners and as the primary point of contact for international students and host families. The Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day program for international students, foster meaningful relationships between students and host families, plan activities and orientation events, and ensure that each international students academic, social, and spiritual needs are met. During the academic year, this is a full-time position. During the summer months (JuneAugust), the schedule shifts to a reduced, part-time schedule focused on preparing for new students arrival, securing host family placements, and coordinating orientation and travel logistics. This position reports to the Director of Admissions and works closely with the Upper School Dean of Academics and Grammar School Principal for academic support and ESL coordination.

Requirements

  • A mature Christian faith and the ability to nurture this faith in students.
  • Willingness to sign and uphold CCAs Statement of Faith and Core Values.
  • Bachelors degree in Education, TESOL, Linguistics, or a related field (Masters preferred).
  • ESL certification (TESOL, TEFL, CELTA) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in ESL/ELL instruction.
  • Experience working with international or multilingual students.
  • Strong intercultural communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Passion for fostering a welcoming, Christ-centered environment for students from diverse backgrounds.
  • This is a 12-month position with a flexible, part-time summer schedule (approximately 1015 hours per week from mid-June through August).

Responsibilities

  • International Student Program Coordination Serve as the primary contact for international students, host families, and agencies.
  • Coordinate, encourage, and generate training for homestay placements within the CCA community, ensuring strong communication and alignment with the schools mission.
  • Plan and implement new student orientation prior to the start of the school year.
  • Develop and oversee student programming throughout the year, including cultural experiences, service opportunities, and community events (may include evenings or weekends)
  • Maintain regular contact with students, families, and host parents to monitor progress and well-being.
  • Collaborate with Admissions to support recruitment, enrollment, and integration of new international students.
  • Maintain accurate ISP records, including visa and homestay documentation.
  • Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and assist in managing Covenant's Student Exchange and Visitor Program (SEVP) portal and in maintaining compliance with the Department of Homeland Security
  • ESL Instruction/Academic Support For students in grades K-8, plan, organize and deliver English lessons using a broad range of strategies to strengthen reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
  • For students in grades 9-12, offer academic support and tutoring to assist English learners in accessing and excelling in their core academic classes
  • Integrate biblical principles and the schools Christian philosophy into instruction.
  • Develop and deliver lessons using a broad range of strategies to strengthen reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
  • Administer and interpret English proficiency assessments to evaluate progress and guide instruction.
  • Maintain accurate student records and provide regular progress updates to teachers, parents, and administrators.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify assignments as deemed appropriate
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support academic success across disciplines.
  • Pre-College and College Guidance Writing recommendations for programs they are applying to
  • Provide academic planning college and career
  • Overseeing application process for college and summer program applications
  • Admissions Support Assist the Director of Admissions with admissions-related events, including open houses, international recruitment visits, and onboarding.
  • Shape and communicate the ideal student profile and support the recruitment of international students who will flourish at Covenant Christian Academy
  • Support campus events that build community among domestic and international students.
