Location Norfolk, VA Type of Position Classified Type of Job Full Time EEO Category F Administrative Support (Clerical & Sales) Job Description This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service to all who seek assistance from VISA to include overseeing the running of several workflows for both front desk and many internal processes, assist international student advisor with coordinating ODU compliance with insurance policies and procedures for both international students and scholars, assisting in determining students' eligibility for insurance waiver, and other related duties. Type of Recruitment Knowledge, skills and abilities Considerable knowledge of effective customer service and problem resolution techniques. Working knowledge of information systems and computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite and Banner or comparable programs used to produce documents, prepare reports, manipulate data, and scan/index documents. Demonstrated strong data entry skills to include the ability to pay attention to detail. Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Effective time management, prioritization, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population of international clientele. Demonstrated ability to interpret, apply, and explain complex policies, rules, and regulations. Special licenses, registration or certification None Education or training None Level and type of experience Considerable experience providing excellent customer service and administrative support. Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification) Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience working with various international regulations and insurance benefits and designs. Some training with Banner. Some training with FSA Atlas or a comparable immigration software program. Considerable exposure to non-U.S. citizens and/or cross-cultural communication either through studying a foreign language, living/working abroad, spending a semester studying abroad or other means of exposure to other cultures. Experience providing administrative support in a student-focused environment.
