About The Position

The International Programs Coordinator oversees incoming international exchange programs at The University of Alabama. Supports incoming international exchange from the University's direct exchange partners and incoming government-sponsored international students on special programs. Coordinates the operation of inbound international exchange programs from point of admission through program completion including selection, admission, basic academic advising, housing placement, orientation, and ongoing advising. Additional Department Summary: Oversees the development, implementation, and promotion of ISSS student educational and programming activities and initiatives. Plans and develops educational outcomes. Executes programming outreach, most notably International Coffee Hour and International Trivia Night, which take place weekly throughout the academic year. Oversees the direct supervision, selection, and advising of the International Peer Advisory Council (IPAC), a group of 20+ scholarship volunteers. Oversees the management of ISSS social media and marketing of programming initiatives. Coordinates operations of the Rotary International House, a small Multicultural Living Learning Community which hosts 16 international and domestic students. This position serves a critical role in the fulfillment of International Student & Scholar Services' mission. As one of three offices within the Capstone International Center, ISSS provides essential services and innovative programs for UA international students, scholars, and their families to enable them to achieve their educational, professional, and social goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher and some experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident in order to be authorized as an F-1 Designated School Official with the Department of Homeland Security's Student Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) and as a J-1 Alternate Responsible Officer with the Department of State's BridgeUSA Exchange Visitor Program (EVP).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident in order to serve as an F-1 Designated School Official (DSO) with the Department of Homeland Security's Student Exchange Visitor Program and as a J-1 Alternative Responsible Officer (ARO) with the Department of State's Exchange Visitor Program.

  • Ability to proficiently use University of Alabama and Department of Homeland Security data systems (SEVIS, ISSM, and Banner).
