About The Position

The position involves designing and optimizing the global supply chain network for efficiency, cost savings, and reliability, ensuring timely delivery of ocean freight shipments of food and non-food products. Responsibilities include negotiating with international carriers and freight forwarders, managing compliance with international trade laws, and monitoring tariffs and trade agreements to minimize costs. The role also encompasses establishing logistics service provider relationships, managing the International Logistics function, and developing metrics to evaluate carrier performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in International Logistics.
  • Familiarity with container logistics, vessel operations, and customs compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize the global supply chain network for efficiency, cost savings, and reliability.
  • Negotiate scope, service, price, and KPIs with international carriers and freight forwarders.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade laws, import/export regulations, and customs clearance requirements.
  • Monitor tariffs, duties, sanctions, and trade agreements to minimize landed cost exposure.
  • Establish and maintain logistics service provider relationships, including performance accountability and rate negotiations.
  • Manage the International Logistics function and optimize shipping costs across providers.
  • Govern customs compliance function, including tariff classification and annual customs compliance audits.
  • Develop and enforce metrics and KPIs for carrier effectiveness and install penalties for missed goals.
  • Compare JRD rates paid vs. market indexes to ensure costs are below market.
  • Identify areas for competitive improvement through technology and negotiated relationships.
  • Evaluate and adapt operating plans to support company growth and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze monthly value-oriented metrics like cost per container and savings per load.
  • Drive ocean freight and drayage conversion process to analyze potential freight savings.
