About The Position

The International HR Program Manager is a subject matter expert in international HR at Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines. As an individual contributor, the International HR Program Manager will be responsible for managing HR functions across multiple countries. This role involves implementing HR policies, ensuring compliance with local labor laws, and supporting the global workforce. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of international HR practices and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience in international human resources, law or related area.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Strong knowledge of international labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience in HR compliance, employee relations and/or human resources business partnering.
  • Travel 20% of time, as required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert in international HR to coordinate internal teams such as HRBP, Legal, Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Compliance and HR communities of excellence/expertise (COE) to support international employees.
  • With minimal direction from leadership, exercise considerable judgement to make decisions in HR support for international employees’ in Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Taiwan, Italy and other countries Alaska Airlines serves.
  • Support and advise on HR policies and procedures that comply with local labor laws and align with the company's global HR strategy.
  • Address employee concerns and provide guidance on conflict resolution in coordination with Employee Relations, Legal, and HR Business Partners.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to complete the recruitment process for international positions, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding.
  • Partner closely with divisional HRBP to handoff support of performance management process, including setting objectives, conducting performance reviews, and providing feedback.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate professional development programs for employees across different regions.
  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations, including work permits and visas.
  • Assist in the development and administration of compensation and benefits programs that are competitive and compliant with local standards.
  • Maintain HR records and prepare reports on HR metrics, such as turnover rates, recruitment metrics, and employee satisfaction.
  • Identify, secure and manage third-party vendor relationships to ensure proper administration of international HR operations.
