We are currently looking for an International Collections Specialist to join our International Banking team in Houston, TX.

Requirements

• Requires High School diploma or equivalent and 4+ yrs experience in foreign check and draft collections and payments, wire transfers, lockbox processes and procedures or other directly years related experience. A combination of education and experience may meet job requirements.
• Working knowledge of foreign check and draft collections and payments, wire transfers, lockbox processes and procedures.
• Must have excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent verbal communication skills, effective telephone techniques.
• Strong ability and skills to effectively deal with clients.
• Strong follow-up, research and problem resolutions skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize and organize work.
• Proficient knowledge of regulatory requirements.
• Proficient math, reading, writing and reasoning skills.
• Advanced working knowledge of various computer programs (i.e. excel, word, etc).

Responsibilities

• Process accurately all Foreign Checks received from affiliate divisions.
• Ensure items are sent and collected through the correct clearing agent bank.
• Handle foreign items processed via cash letter (immediate credit or provisional), or final payment.
• Process Documentary Collections received from customers.
• Apply Documentary Collection payments correctly, receive and send generated Outgoing and Incoming Documentary Collections cover letters to customers.
• Maintain communication with branches regarding process of their foreign items.
• Assist branches, Lockbox and Treasury Management areas in providing service to clarify Customers’ claims on Foreign Cash Letters and Collections.
• Investigate all pending items with the clearing agent bank, been in contact with them.
• Research all the pending items posted in the suspense GL account of the area by following up with branches.
• Assist the manager in keeping updated the internal procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
