Job Description Responsible for supporting the processing of Global Trade & Standby Services (GTSS) and Foreign Exchange (FX) banking products at various stages of the transactions/trade’s life cycle. For GTSS specialization, product areas include Import/Export Letters of Credit, documentary collections, banker’s acceptances, and Standby Letters of Credit. FX product areas include International Remittance/Payments, Settlements, and Investigations. Facilitates the process with all parties involved on trade transactions, payments, settlements, and disbursements. Reviews, executes, and reconciles processing of transactions and related documents. Verifies work processes to ensure completeness and accuracy to established service levels, standard policies, and applicable procedures to ensure strict compliance with terms and conditions. Ensures the appropriate materials, documentation and capacity are available to complete transactions. Document Examiner – Trade Finance Overview: Responsible for examining and processing documents related to letters of credit for commercial customers involved in import and export transactions. Supports the full lifecycle of letters of credit, including advising, issuing, and document examination in compliance with international trade rules (UCP 600, ISPP, ICC rules).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five or more years of relevant work experience
  • Advanced knowledge of specific international banking products, payment services, foreign exchange and general bank operating policies and procedures
  • Strong problem-solving and client servicing skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve/escalate complex problems with minimal guidance
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer navigation skills using a variety of software packages including Microsoft Office applications

Nice To Haves

  • Certification such as CDCS (Certificate for Documentary Credit Specialist) is highly valued.
  • Strong knowledge of export/import/standby letters of credit and documentary collections.
  • Familiarity with ICC rules, UCP 600, and related international trade regulations.
  • Detail-oriented with strong decision-making skills and ability to handle complex documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and issue letters of credit for export and import customers.
  • Examine shipping and payment documents (e.g., bill of lading, invoice, packing list) for compliance with letter of credit terms and international regulations.
  • Coordinate with payment teams to ensure timely payment to exporters and facilitate document transfer to buyers.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies to protect customer interests and ensure smooth transaction completion.
