About The Position

The International Air Freight Specialist ensures the proper and timely movement of international air freight and related information, while complying with internal and external requirements and providing exceptional customer service. This role is dedicated to the coordination, documentation, and compliance of international air shipments.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the routing of import and export bookings with airlines and air cargo carriers.
  • Initiate pick-ups and deliveries to authorized agents, carriers, and ground handling companies for air shipments.
  • Prepare, handle, and process documentation including house and master air waybills, commercial invoices, and customs/regulatory documents specific to air freight.
  • Act as a liaison with customs brokers, agents, and air terminal operators.
  • Communicate effectively and timely with customers, carriers, foreign agents, and co-workers through a high volume of emails and phone calls.
  • Maintain compliance standards at all times, including internal policies and procedures, external government regulations (such as TSA, IATA, and CBP), and customer requirements for air freight.
  • Prepare billing screens and ensure accurate invoicing for air freight services.
  • Obtain and maintain relevant certifications (e.g., IATA, TSA security training, CW Specialist Certificate).
  • Maintain department/mode volume metrics as designed by supervisor/manager, with a focus on air freight.
  • Maintain a base knowledge of international logistics portals and air cargo tracking systems.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of applicable US and international air import and export laws and regulations, including IATA and TSA requirements.
