About The Position

The Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP-R) is expected to interact with patients and their families in a caring, compassionate, considerate manner and provide care with the highest regards for the patient's mental, spiritual, and physical well-being. The RCP-R is responsible for providing basic and advanced Respiratory Care services to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. The RCP-R performs patient assessments, develops Respiratory Care Plans, and then implements and evaluates the effectiveness of the Respiratory Care Plan. He/she is required to deliver respiratory care services to patients in all areas of the hospital including critical care units, telemetry, medical and surgical floors, emergent care areas, post-anesthesia care units, infant nurseries, labor and delivery, pediatrics, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, and the home care environment. The RCP-R is expected to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined with only minimal supervision and must make independent decisions. Requirements

  • Licensed by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Current AHA BLS certification required
  • Previous Clinical Experience
  • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and posses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures
  • Deliver outstanding customer service that upholds CarolinaEast's Standards of Excellence
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in that specialty area
