ECU Health Chowan Hospital in Edenton is a 25-bed critical access hospital which provides programs and services to 110,000 people in 6 counties. The facility offers medical and surgical services, including intensive care, a specialty care clinic and a dedicated outpatient surgery area with endoscopy capabilities. A 7-bed emergency department serves approximately 15,000 patients per year and team members at the facility have access to a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Responsible to provide care in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Nursing-Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice and other standards established by profession/professional groups, regulating bodies/agents. Nursing care will be delivered in accordance with ECU Health and entity specific nursing policies, procedures and professional standards of care/practice. Responsible for the provision and coordination of nursing care to include the collection and analysis of assessment data, identification of expected outcomes and development of plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family and other interdisciplinary team members. Identifies interventions to attain expected outcomes, implements the interventions identified in the plan of care, evaluates the progress of the patient/family toward attainment of outcomes, and documents the process. This care includes sensitivity to age specific and unique needs of the patient/family. Promotes and evaluates the effective functioning of the health care team. Collaborates with health care team members to meet the identified needs of the patient/family throughout the episode of care. Delegates tasks and activities as appropriate and governed by NC Nurse Practice Act.

  • Provide nursing care in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Nursing-Nurse Practice Act.
  • Deliver nursing care in accordance with ECU Health and entity specific nursing policies.
  • Collect and analyze assessment data.
  • Identify expected outcomes and develop a plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family.
  • Implement interventions identified in the plan of care.
  • Evaluate the progress of the patient/family toward attainment of outcomes.
  • Document the nursing care process.
  • Promote and evaluate the effective functioning of the health care team.
  • Collaborate with health care team members to meet patient/family needs.
  • Delegate tasks and activities as appropriate.
  • Diploma in Nursing, Associates in Nursing or higher.
  • Bachelor Degree is preferred.
  • Greater than 1 year of nursing experience is required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification is required.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to meet the twenty four (24) hour needs of the patients.
  • Possess organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to utilize effective and confidential communication in patient, interdisciplinary, and staff relationships.
  • Maintain stable performance levels under conditions of pressure and multiple demands.
  • Working knowledge and experience with PC-based applications.
  • Base pay: up to $70 per hour for all travel nursing positions.
  • 1.5x base hourly rate for overtime (over 40 hours) and holiday pay.
  • Additional $3.00 per hour for Stand-by pay.
  • Additional $2.00 per hour for Charge/preceptor pay.
