This position is within the Tax Exempt/Government Entities Division of the IRS, specifically focusing on Employee Plans.   • Analyze determination letter applications and apply technical tests to verify compliance with the Internal Revenue Code.
  • Perform on-site audits of pension and profit-sharing plans, reviewing operational compliance and internal control systems.
  • Conduct discrimination analysis to ensure compliance with plan documents and regulatory provisions.
  • Review amendments to existing plans to assess their qualification or exempt status.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on compliance with tax laws related to employee plans.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers to verify plan compliance and gather necessary information.
  • Ensure audit results are documented in a quality case file and provide a well-written closing letter.
  • A Certificate as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or a bachelor's degree in accounting with specific coursework.
  • Experience in accounting or auditing that demonstrates knowledge of professional accounting principles.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and deal with a variety of individuals.
  • Specialized experience at the GS-05 level or higher in the Federal service.
  • Experience in interpreting and applying tax law for individuals and businesses.
  • Experience with corporate financial transactions and financial management principles.
  • Graduate level education in accounting or related fields.
  • Competitive salary range of $40,332 - $144,031 per year.
