About The Position

This position is within the Large Business and International (LB&I) Division of the IRS, specifically focusing on Director Pass Thru Entities. The role involves serving as a technical expert in examinations of significant tax compliance issues, providing expert advice that may impact tax compliance strategy and the examination program as a whole. The incumbent will draft or review work projects involving emerging issues and areas of non-compliance, serve as an issue expert in the examination of LB&I returns, and exercise significant authority and responsibility in planning, directing, and coordinating the examination of complex issues. The position also requires leading teams of revenue agents and specialists, collaborating with other experts, and ensuring consistent application and interpretation of tax laws.

Requirements

  • A Certificate as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or a bachelor's or higher degree in accounting with at least 30 semester hours in accounting.
  • Alternatively, a bachelor's or higher degree in a field other than accounting with a combination of education and experience equivalent to 4 years that includes at least 30 semester hours in accounting.
  • One year of specialized experience at the GS-13 level in the Federal service.
  • Experience in professional accounting or auditing work applying accounting principles and interpreting financial records.
  • Experience interpreting and applying Federal tax law to individuals, businesses, partnerships, and S corporations.

  • Lead teams of revenue agents and specialists assigned to examinations.
  • Counsel attorneys and lead the team in conferences with appeals.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other experts and specialists throughout the IRS.
