About The Position

DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital is seeking full-time Certified or Licensed Veterinary Technicians to join our Internal Medicine team. As a Veterinary Technician in Internal Medicine, you’ll provide exceptional nursing care by carrying out internist-directed treatment plans and supporting both chronic and newly referred patients. This is a client communication–heavy position and an excellent opportunity for a technician who enjoys relationship-based medicine, thrives in a specialty environment, and values both high-level technical skill and excellent client communication. You’ll work side-by-side with our internists each day to deliver high-quality, client-centered care, collaborate closely with the ICU to support hospitalized internal medicine patients, and contribute to advanced diagnostics and procedures. You will assist with Internal Medicine diagnostics and procedures including: GI endoscopy Arthrocentesis Bone marrow aspiration/biopsy Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tubes …and more You will also play a hands-on role in the full patient care experience, including: Patient intake and check-in Calculating dosages and administering medications Running in-house lab work Placing catheters and tubes Monitoring comfort, vitals, and overall patient progress Supporting sedated and anesthetized patients Providing thoughtful, clear client updates and education for both chronic and acute care cases Collaborating across teams to ensure a smooth, high-standard care experience

Requirements

  • Current status as: Certified Veterinary Technician in Oregon, or Licensed/Registered Veterinary Technician elsewhere with the ability to transfer to Oregon
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience as a veterinary technician or assistant
  • 1+ year of emergency and/or specialty small animal experience
