About The Position

VCA Family & Oahu Veterinary Specialty Center is a 24 hour hybrid hospital in BEAUTIFUL Hawai'i!! We have AMAZING openings for Veterinary Technicians! We are looking for candidates that believe in high quality and compassionate care. We're in search of the right person to join our Internal Medicine Department. Job Summary: Assist our Internal Medicine Specialists and the internal medicine team in a high paced high volume specialty hospital. Duties include completing patient treatments, assisting in surgery, client relations/communication and all other animal care functions as well as other tasks involved in the operations of a veterinary hospital. High level medicine, interesting cases and many educational experiences. Our internists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of complex disorders. Minimally invasive equipment and techniques including ultrasound and endoscopy are utilized to obtain diagnosis. Some of the services we provide are: Endoscopy, Lithotripsy, Oncology services, Ultrasound, Echo-cardiogram, Hematology, Gastroenterology, Infectious Diseases, Cystoscopy, Endocrinology. Requirements

  • 2 years' experience in a veterinary hospital setting
  • Full-time with flexible availability. On-call hours for emergency cases as need
  • Able to multi-tasking in a busy environment
  • Able to provide excellent client service
  • Passionate about patient care
  • Team oriented
  • Proficient and/or willing to learn IV catheter placement and venipuncture
  • Proficient and/or willing to learn to assist in the nursing care of CCU/Internal Medicine patients
  • Proficient and/or willing to learn anesthesia monitoring and recover
  • Proficient and/or willing to learn to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures: joint taps, bone marrow biopsies, CT scans, and ultrasounds)
  • Proficient and/or willing to learn to prepare and administer chemotherapy products
  • Proficient and/or willing to learn to set up and assist with endoscopic procedures
  • Proficient and/or willing to learn appointment management: obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoice and patient discharge, prepare and dispense prescriptions, and educate clients.
