Requirements

  • DO or MD degree from a College of Osteopathic or Allopathic Medicine.
  • Successful completion of residency.
  • Current AOA or ABMS Internal Medicine board certification.
  • Current unrestricted license to practice in Texas or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Expertise in Internal Medicine with preferably five years of experience.
  • At least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience.
  • Previous leadership experience and excellent clinical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in interdisciplinary settings.

Nice To Haves

  • Training and experience in osteopathic manipulative medicine.
  • Two years' prior experience as a core faculty member.
  • Ability to teach osteopathic manipulative medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency at SHSU-COM.
  • Oversee the administration and operation of the internal medicine residency program.
  • Teach and supervise residents, medical students, and other learners in various settings.
  • Manage resident recruitment, selection, promotion, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure accreditation standards are maintained and prepare necessary documentation.
  • Develop and maintain educational goals and curriculum for the program.
  • Prepare evaluations for teaching staff, residents, and other medical learners.
  • Serve on various committees including the Residency Advisory Committee and Graduate Medical Education Committee.
  • Maintain interdisciplinary team relationships to ensure quality patient care and education.
