Department Denver Sheriffs Job Summary Under the direction of a physician, Internal Medicine Advanced Practice Providers offer expert medical care to patients in office settings or in the hospital. They evaluate, treat, and help prevent illnesses and injuries that occur regularly in the general population. They may refer patients to specialists when needed for further diagnosis or treatment. Internal Medicine Advanced Practice Providers typically treat adults, some adolescents, and elderly patients. Internal Medicine Advanced Practice Providers work at various clinics and locations across Denver Health.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree from an NP program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), or successful completion of an Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) approved program (prior to January 2001 - Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs)
  • No experience necessary
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required
  • NP-Nurse Practitioner - AANPCB - American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board Required or PA-Physician Assistant - State Medical Board Required
  • Has adequate knowledge and skill of all privileged procedures as outlined in the Denver Health Advanced Practice Provider Ambulatory Care Clinical Privileges documentation.
  • Computer skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of a physician, admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients of all ages with acute and chronic illnesses, including major and complicated, and perform procedures learned in training. (30%)
  • Provide preventative and therapeutic care for patients of all ages. This includes admit patients, preventative care, acute care, care of injured persons, management of chronic illnesses, and performance of procedures learned in training. (30%)
  • Supervise house staff in providing care for patients of all ages in ambulatory and inpatient settings. (30%)
  • Performs privileged procedures as outlined in the Denver Health Advanced Practice Provider Ambulatory Care Clinical Privileges documentation. (10%)
