About The Position

The Internal Investigator 1 OPWDD position involves conducting thorough investigations under the direction of a lead investigator. Requirements

  • Six years of field investigative or law enforcement investigative experience.
  • Experience in gathering and securing information and evidence from various sources.
  • Ability to conduct interviews and interrogate witnesses.
  • Experience in writing and summarizing case narratives.
  • Experience testifying at administrative hearings and criminal proceedings.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in conducting cyber crime investigations.
  • Experience in collecting and safeguarding evidence through the chain of custody.
  • Experience in digital evidence preservation and image capturing methods.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate plan, process, and timetables to conduct an accurate, complete, and thorough investigation within OPWDD-specified timeframe.
  • Prepare for and conduct interviews and obtain sworn statements on matters arising from investigations.
  • Gather, document, and preserve information and evidence related to investigations.
  • Write narrative reports to effectively communicate the results of investigations.
  • Work collaboratively with OPWDD facilities, programs, and Office of Employee Relations staff.
  • Conduct investigations of alleged instances of abuse and neglect and other types of employee incompetency or misconduct.
  • Interrogate state employees following stipulations of the collective bargaining agreements.
  • Make recommendations regarding possible violations of OPWDD policy and procedure.
  • Provide testimony at arbitration hearings to support the outcome of the investigation.
