Internal Audit Internship (IT) - Las Vegas
About The Position
Interns are hired through a third-party vendor rather than directly by Southwest Gas. This internship is based in Las Vegas, NV. Please note that relocation support, including housing or moving assistance, is not provided for this opportunity. Internship dates: June 1, 2026 - August 14, 2026 Deadline to apply: March 6, 2026 We are looking for interns to join our Internal Audit team for an 11-week period lasting from early June to mid August. The internship requires 40 hours of work per week in a hybrid work environment (at least 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely from home in Las Vegas). The ideal candidate will have a curious, analytical mindset and possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Completion of the following classes are ideal: Auditing and Assurance Services Internal Auditing Introduction to Information Systems IT Essentials Strategic Management of Technology and Innovation Cybersecurity Core Our paid internship provides an amazing opportunity for students to gain practical experience and train with professionals with dozens of years of experience in the IT Internal Audit field.
Requirements
- Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, or a related field
- Must be in junior, senior, or master status
- Excellent relationship-building skills
- Excellent communication skills
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications is a plus
- Experience with large ERP applications such as Oracle EBS or SAP, coding experience, understanding of cybersecurity, or experience in IT related areas is a plus
Responsibilities
- Participate in the planning and risk assessment activities for audit engagements
- Participate in fieldwork testing and audit documentation for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and non-SOX engagements including reviewing processes and control support and performing inquiries with management
- Participate in the wrap-up and reporting process and documentation
- Other duties as assigned
