About The Position

Conducts interviews of all victims, suspects, witnesses and those maintaining records or having intimate information regarding an investigation. Interacts with other law enforcement agencies in matters of mutual interest. Utilizes recording and photographic equipment when necessary. Provides comprehensive narrative investigative reports with his/her findings and recommendations. Will become intimately familiar with Department of Correction policies and procedures. Abide by the Law Enforcement Officers Bill of Rights when applicable. Interprets and applies apply applicable laws, rules and regulations and standards. Testifies in State and U.S. District Courts when required. Utilizes law enforcement computer program applications for DELJIS/CJIS, NCIC and LEISS. Requirements

  • Ten (10) years minimum experience as a Police Officer required.
  • Experience in conducting investigations that include interviewing individuals from a diverse socioeconomic background to obtain confidential information.
  • Experience writing comprehensive narrative reports.
  • Experience in testifying in criminal, civil and administrative proceedings.
  • Experience in the gathering and handling of evidence.
  • Experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.
