About The Position

The Internal Admissions Coordinator plays a crucial role in representing the facility to area hospitals and medical professionals, serving as a key member of the marketing team. This position is essential for managing admissions processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining effective communication with various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Long Term Care, including SNF, ALF, or hospital settings.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurances.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State regulations for skilled nursing facilities (SNFs).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory standards.
  • Understanding of Advance Directives.

Responsibilities

  • Assess all referrals and communicate with appropriate staff.
  • Communicate with case managers and online systems regarding pending referrals.
  • Maintain documentation on all accepted residents, including necessary forms.
  • Provide the Business Office Manager with financial documentation prior to admission.
  • Utilize IRM to track referrals and potential admissions.
  • Initiate Admission and Discharge Notification forms upon actual admission and discharge.
  • Verify insurances for all potential admissions and obtain necessary authorizations.
  • Complete admission paperwork within 48 hours of admission.
  • Coordinate with family and physician to gather necessary admission information.
  • Communicate with external facilities and hospitals regarding bed availability.
  • Give tours and information about the facility to prospective residents and families.
  • Maintain Daily Census tracking records.
  • Represent the facility at community events.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Community Relations to obtain required medical and financial documentation prior to admissions.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and privacy, treating residents with kindness and respect.
