About The Position

Terros Health is seeking Master's level students for an internship at their McDowell Road Health Center. This program is designed for individuals currently enrolled in a Master’s Program with an emphasis in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or other behavioral health specialties. The internship offers a learning opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a professional healthcare setting, working under the supervision of qualified Terros Health professionals, including LCSW/LPC teams and supervisors. The focus is on providing integrated care, including primary care, behavioral health medication services, general mental health counseling, and substance use treatment. Interns will gain practical experience in conducting biopsychosocial assessments, providing individual counseling with trauma-informed care, leading/co-leading treatment groups, working within interdisciplinary teams, and addressing social determinants of health needs. The goal is to prepare students to provide quality clinical care and encourage them to join the Terros team post-graduation.   • Currently enrolled in a supervised field instruction class (Graduate level i.e. Social Work, Counseling)
  • Excellent written, and verbal communication skills
  • Completion of the pre-student/Intern/Practicum onboarding process as determined solely at the discretion of Terros Health, which may include a criminal background check, and a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must have a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card or apply for an Arizona fingerprint clearance card (Level 1) within 7 working days of assuming role

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks related to their specific area of study and the Intern learning Contract
  • Apply and continue to learn by practical application the principals, theory, and knowledge from their related course work
  • Work closely with LCSW/LPC team and supervisors to learn how to provide the best possible clinical care in the community health setting
  • Conduct complete biopsychosocials to diagnose and recommend treatment
  • Provide individual counseling with trauma informed care
  • Lead/co-lead treatment groups for co-occurring disorders
  • Work within an interdisciplinary team including primary care, behavioral health medication prescribers, case managers
  • Assess for and complete referrals to address social determinant of health needs
  • Learn the foundations for providing quality clinical care throughout your career
