About The Position

Join Texas Health Resources for a dynamic Summer Internship experience designed to immerse undergraduate and graduate students in the real-world operations of a leading health-care organization. Over the course of up to twelve weeks, interns will gain meaningful exposure to both administrative and clinical functions, participate in day‑to-day organizational activities, and work closely with leaders across the system. The program offers opportunities to observe leadership and communication skills in action, engage in departmental rotations, and complete impactful projects that contribute to organizational goals. With structured mentorship from a dedicated preceptor and avenues to connect with executives, department heads, and clinical teams, interns will develop valuable professional insights while strengthening their knowledge, capabilities, and career readiness. What You’ll Experience Orientation to the THR entity, including mission, goals, structure, and key departments. Introduction to executive leaders, department heads, physicians, and administrative staff. Rotations or focused time in select departments based on learning needs and interests. Exposure to internal and external factors influencing health-care organizations (technology, economic, political/legal, and social forces). Attendance at leadership, entity, and system‑level meetings as schedule allows. Project Work Completion of one major project or multiple assignments with real organizational impact. Opportunities to analyze problems, gather information, develop action plans, evaluate options, and present recommendations. Direct mentorship and weekly check‑ins with a preceptor for guidance and professional development.

Requirements

  • Individuals must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Ability to solve problems, think outside the box, and be resourceful
  • Must be result-oriented, a quick learner and a self-starter
  • Current undergraduate or graduate students in a health-related or business‑related field
  • Strong interest in health care administration, operations, or leadership
  • Professionalism, communication skills, and willingness to learn in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to commit up to 12 weeks during the summer
  • Attendance at new‑hire orientation and completion of onboarding tasks (ID badge, system access)
  • Coordination with assigned preceptor for reporting and scheduling
