About The Position

The Intern, Vehicle Safety Investigation will provide structured support to the technical investigation team in the areas of market data analysis, benchmarking, and detailed component inspection. This role is intended to strengthen investigative processes while fostering the intern's development in core competencies, including data analysis, application of quality tools, and statistical methodologies. The intern will contribute to accurate and timely investigations that align with organizational safety and quality objectives, while gaining practical experience in technical problem-solving and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Must be a high school graduate
  • Enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in related Engineering field (ME, EE, IE)
  • Automotive, diagnostic, data science, quality assurance
  • Automotive technical, quality assurance
  • Available for a full-time paid internship in June to August 2026
  • Local to Fountain Valley, CA (no relocation or housing will be offered)
  • Must be eligible to work up to 40 hours per week
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis during the internship
  • Visa sponsorship is not available
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Monday-Friday)

  • Certification: ASQ and/or ASE a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Technical Investigation team with data collection, analysis, and reporting to support root cause identification and resolution.
  • Perform market data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and potential investigation items.
  • Conduct benchmarking studies to compare product performance against industry standards.
  • Execute detailed parts inspections, document findings and supporting investigative conclusions.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of investigation activities, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide timely and relevant technical insights.
  • Utilize quality tools and statistical methods to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Vehicle Safety Investigation team.
  • Standardized work development for the VSI team
