The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Dallas-Fort Worth region, which is the fourth largest metropolitan area in the United States. The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking a summer Intern to provide support to the Travel Demand Management (TDM) Program which focuses on alternative commute options to reduce roadway congestion and improve air quality within the North Central Texas region. This student in this position will assist with activities related to promoting alternative commute options such as carpooling, vanpooling, transit, biking, walking, telecommuting, and flexible work schedules; all strategies that reduce the demand for drive-alone travel on regional roadways. Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Good communication, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills, with ability to listen to instructions, coordinate with other team members, and present ideas
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, with an ability to handle multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline driven environment without diminishing quality of work
  • Good critical thinking and analytical skills, with ability to identify data discrepancies
  • Ability to create, maintain, and manipulate databases, maps, queries, and tables
  • Must be attending an accredited college or university in a degree-seeking program during employment
  • No work experience required
  • At least one year of school-related experience

Responsibilities

  • Working with supervisor to oversee TryParkingIt.com, the region’s commuter tracking and rideshare website, and associated commuter rewards program
  • Assisting with outreach efforts and activities related to the Travel Demand Management program
  • Working with supervisor to develop TDM outreach materials and awareness campaigns
  • Working with supervisor to assist partner agencies and employers with TDM related data requests
  • Working with supervisor to draft annual performance reports for regional TDM programs
  • Working with supervisor to collect data and assist with TDM research
  • Working with supervisor to maintain the regional park-and-ride facility inventory database
  • Assisting the agency’s Employee Transportation Coordinator to implement agency specific TDM activities
  • Working with supervisor to maintain regional TDM related databases and develop annual TDM performance reports
  • Working with supervisor to compile and maintain databases and spreadsheets while ensuring data accuracy
  • Working with supervisor to create charts, maps, plots, and reports
  • Drafting memorandums, letters, documentation, progress reports, presentations, and articles for supervisor review
