About The Position

United Therapeutics (Nasdaq: UTHR) seeks to travel down the corridors of indifference to develop treatments for rare, deadly diseases. We were founded in 1996 by a family seeking a cure for their daughter's pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Today, we have six FDA-approved therapies that treat PAH, pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD) and neuroblastoma, a rare pediatric cancer. Our near-term pipeline seeks to develop additional therapies for PAH and pulmonary fibrosis (PF). The selected intern will need to report onsite at the Blacksburg, VA office for the entire duration of the program which runs from May through August 2025. United Therapeutics does not provide housing or transportation. A stipend for relocation assistance may be provided on a case-by-case basis.

Requirements

• Must actively be a college student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of molecular biology techniques and laboratory safety protocols.
• Familiarity with RNA-Seq technologies and next-generation sequencing (NGS) is a plus.
• Must be available to work up to 40 hours per week.
• Must be able to work in the Blacksburg, VA office 5-days a week.

Responsibilities

• Assist with various aspects of sequencing experiments, including experimental setup, laboratory tasks, and data analysis.
• Validate and interpret DNA or RNA-Seq results using bioinformatics tools.
• Utilize platforms like Oxford Nanopore's EPI2ME or custom programming languages.
