About The Position

The Trade & Logistics Intern will directly support the Stores Department in their daily responsibilities and operational dealings of Allegiant Travel Company. The role will interface with the Director of Stores and the Trade & Logistics team. Interactions will also be with Material Purchasing, Repairs, AOG, Accounting, and FP&A and different Service Providers to resolve and address various accounting and operational issues at various locations (primarily Allegiant Stores and Maintenance Bases) as per the guidance provided by Director of Stores.

Requirements

  • Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Must pass a Criminal Background Check.
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Bachelor's Degree recent graduate or currently pursuing degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, STEM majors or related field.
  • To be qualified to apply, intern candidates should be currently enrolled in a college or university, or a recent graduate within the last six months with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • •Sound knowledge of MS Access, MS Excel, and MS Power Point.
  • •Self-starter, problem solver and possess creativity to help in reducing the workload of data entry and Purchasing Order or Repairs Order creation/execution.
  • •Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • •Innate interest in airline supply chain management and keen motivation to learn.
  • •Sound problem solving and structured yet unconstrained thinking capability.
  • •Ability to create spreadsheet models and produce relevant outputs.
  • •Prior history of working with large data sets and extrapolating useful information.
  • •Interest/experience in business, economic and/or math.
  • •Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Arrange (RFQ, award, track) domestic and international transportation. Coordinate logistics for oversized and expedited material. Ensure documentation follows DOT regulations including Hazmat.
  • Communicate with Accounting and vendors to understand and resolve operational issues through emails and phone calls.
  • Manage invoice log and payment process creating service orders and ensure accurate charge lines are being applied for invoice coding.
  • Work with various teams for discrepancy issues such as filing damage claims and research of loss shipments.
  • Perform centralized import and export functions for material movements. Review, determine and assign correct HTS, country of origin, and ECCN classifications for aircraft material. Support stores with import/export documentation.
  • Work with various brokers to ensure quick and accurate customs clearance.
  • Measure carrier vendor performance: develop key performance indicators, carrier availability, delivery times, paperwork responsiveness, and failures. etc.
  • Manage and consolidate freight to reduce cost along with negotiating contracts and agreements that are beneficial to the Company.
  • Develop and maintain business relationships with Suppliers used by Allegiant and cultivate new opportunities for procurement and savings as guided by the assigned lead or supervisor.
  • Model Allegiant’s customer service standards in personal actions and when providing direction.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.
