The position will work within the Regulatory Affairs Department, primarily focusing on the Licensing Group. Regulatory Affairs plays a crucial role in the operation of Columbia Generating Station (CGS) by maintaining the plant's licensing basis and ensuring compliance with federal requirements for nuclear utilities, which are principally derived from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The department is responsible for interpreting federal regulations and staying informed about industry guidance, operating experiences, and precedents. Additionally, it maintains processes and procedures that all station personnel must follow to operate CGS in accordance with its operating license. Staff members in this department collaborate closely with technical experts across various disciplines, including Engineering and Operations. Therefore, attention to detail, strong research skills, and effective oral and written communication skills are essential for success in this position. This is an onsite position targeted at upper-level (junior/senior) students pursuing degrees in pre-law, engineering, business, or other technical disciplines. The role involves providing entry-level to more advanced technical support for the designated organization based on assigned projects and the student's skill level. The selected candidate will be directly accountable to assigned department staff and will support various project-related activities and initiatives.
