In office Monday – Friday Join Our Team: This role is located at our Store Support Centre in Toronto and reports to the Manager, Corporate Tax. The position is responsible for the Canadian tax compliance preparation and tax accounting/ provision. Our tax department at The Home Depot Canada is a small group of curious and analytical team members who get excited about data and complex tax matters. We act like internal consultants and our collective goal is to ensure that our business is always compliant with tax laws and regulations. We’re part of the greater Home Depot Canada Finance team where everyone works hard but also has a lot of fun along the way! Job Summary: The Co-op Financial Analyst – Tax student will play a key role on this dynamic and committed team. As a co-op student you will get the chance to explore large volume data analysis, gain experience in real time tax compliance and tax audit, develop organization and communication skills while leading various tax projects.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a university and/or college education in accounting & finance and pursuing a CPA designation
  • The successful student will be currently enrolled in a Canadian accredited university or college and is in a formalized co-op program throughout the period of the Co-op program.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze large volume of data
  • Proficiency in MS Office with advanced skills in Excel and other database tools
  • Demonstrated ability to work with other functional teams including with business leaders as a finance support
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to multitask, work independently and as part of a team in a highly deadline driven environment
  • Strong collaboration skills, a proactive approach to cross-functional teamwork

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SAP or other accounting software would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Lead the projects of updating vendor tax IDs, material tax categories etc.
  • Assist in various income tax and sales tax audits including collecting backup documents and performing data analysis to support tax positions.
  • Assist in computing quarterly tax estimates and annual tax provisions, analyze deferred tax positions with necessary financial adjustments.
  • Review and validate sales tax transactions to ensure accuracy and alignment with appropriate regulations.
  • Document policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Assist with external and regulatory reviews, audits and examinations when needed and complete requested materials.
  • Various ad hoc financial and operational analyses and contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.
