About The Position

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Engineering Intern to join our System Design Verification team. This role focuses on ensuring seamless compatibility of our NVMe storage products across diverse operating systems, primarily Linux distributions and Windows environments. The intern will assist in executing test plans, developing cross-platform automation scripts, and debugging integration issues across various hardware and software matrices.

Requirements

  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with both Linux command-line interface (CLI) and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Strong familiarity with PC and server hardware components and storage interfaces (SATA, PCIe, NVMe) and the role of expansion cards (RAID controllers, HBAs, retimers/redrivers).

Nice To Haves

  • Strong desire to learn about complex system interoperability, PCIe technology, and enterprise storage validation.
  • Excellent problem-solving aptitude and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Execute interoperability test plans for storage devices, verifying compatibility across various Linux distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS) and Windows Server/Client versions.
  • Set up and maintain diverse test environments, including configuring both Linux and Windows operating systems on physical server hardware to replicate customer configurations.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining test automation scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell to streamline cross-platform compatibility testing.
  • Document test results meticulously and report firmware bugs in JIRA, assisting with initial root cause analysis related to OS, host specific issues or hardware incompatibility.
  • Learn and utilize platform-specific storage tools and protocols (e.g., fio, nvme-cli, smartmontools) to evaluate device behavior within different OS environments.
  • Collaborate with mentors and cross-functional teams (firmware, hardware, QA) to troubleshoot system integration challenges.
