Just look up. Are you ready to go beyond? What You Will Do Pratt & Whitney seeks a motivated, detail-oriented engineer to join the design team. Working on inter-disciplinary teams, the selected candidate will perform mechanical designs of gas turbine engine parts for fuel, hydraulic, lubrication and air management Systems. This entry-level position requires creative design skills in engine hardware arrangement and packaging to achieve maintainable, low-cost systems while meeting structural and functional requirements. Interpret and define tolerances and features on part drawings. Performs tolerance analysis. Develop technically sound design solutions within program schedule milestones and requirements. Learn and apply solid modeling and analysis tools Participate in cross-discipline integrated product teams to provide design solutions that balance performance, cost, schedule, and quality requirements. Communicate with team leadership and management on status and risks to program schedule and metrics (cost, weight, performance, etc.). Support the PW Integrated Product Deployment process by providing guidance to suppliers and customers request for information, preparing technical documentation to substantiate engineering changes, quality non-conformance, repair requirements or a hardware design phases progression. Understand basic manufacturing processes, specifications, and design requirements of multiple gas turbine hardware. English (read, write, speak) is required when communicating with customers, co-workers, or supervisors who only speak English Learn and apply solid modeling and analysis tools Compression Systems Engineering is responsible for the design, development, and in service support of all fans low-pressure and high-pressure compressors for commercial and military engine models. CSE is responsible for the identification and maturation of new technologies for these products.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a degree program in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months of experience with NX and ANSYS.
  • 6 months of experience in Teamcenter or other PLM systems.
  • Prior gas turbine experience through internships, co-ops and or Training
  • 6 months of experience with ASME Y14.5 specification.
  • Understand technical processes and design requirements of multiple gas turbine hardware (internal, external, static, or rotating hardware).
