Whether supporting Mature Commercial Engines, our industry-leading Geared Turbofan engines, Military Engine programs, Operations, or Business Support functions, the objectives of our program are to help you to develop an understanding of our industry, our company, its operations, and how each discipline and department contributes to the success of our products and customer partnerships. Mechanical Systems, Externals, and Nacelles Engineering is responsible for the design, development and in service support of power transmission systems, bearing compartment and rotor support design and analysis, oil and thermal management systems, engine externals packaging and architecture, as well as nacelles for commercial and military engine models. Technical disciplines include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Product Definition, System Modeling, Mechanical Design analysis for bearings gears and seals, and fluid-thermal modeling of associated components and systems.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a degree program in Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access certain necessary systems.

  • Complete courses in: Material Sciences, Mechanics of Materials and Machine Element Design

Responsibilities

  • Develop technically sound design solutions within program schedule milestones that meet cost and weight goals.
  • Understand technical processes and design requirements of gas turbine externals hardware including plumbing and ducting systems, component mounts, sheet metal brackets and electrical harnesses.
  • Learn and apply solid modeling and analysis tools.
  • Utilize standard work and CORE tools to continuously improve the externals design process.
  • Communicate with team leadership and management on status and risks to program schedule and metrics (cost, weight, performance, etc.).
  • English (read, write, speak) is required when communicating with customers, co-workers, or supervisors who only speak English
