Pratt & Whitney Controls & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military and commercial gas turbine engine control and diagnostic systems. CDS is responsible for all aspects of Pratt & Whitney engine control and diagnostic system development and support, including requirements analysis & definition, system & software architecture, algorithm design, product software design, verification & validation and engine and flight test support. The CDS organization is seeking a highly motivated, team oriented, and results driven Intern students to join our world-class organization. CDS develops complex, cyber-resilient control systems and software for commercial and military engines including power and thermal management Systems and auxiliary power units. CDS also develops advanced diagnostic & health management systems to monitor our products, forecast events and help facilitate MRO operations. With growing emphasis on sustainability, CDS is on the forefront of system development for hybrid and electric propulsion. This position is classified as hybrid. Please ensure this role type (defined below) is appropriate for your needs before applying to this role. Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Mechanical, Aerospace, Computer, Software or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of gas turbine jet engine operation and sub-systems.
  • Programming experience in C++, MATLAB, Java, or Phyton.
  • Experience with modeling tools for complex systems (NPSS, Dymola, Simulink).
  • Ability to execute in a multidiscipline working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for designing, developing, and implementing solutions to control dynamic mechanical, power, and electric systems.
  • Decompose system level and customer interface requirements into software or systems requirements and designs.
  • Conduct iterative prototype testing and reviews of requirements and designs.
  • Perform software verification including regression analysis, test case development, test script development and evaluation of results.
  • English (read, write, speak) is required when communicating with customers, co-workers, or supervisors who only speak English.
