About The Position

As a part of the Strategic Payment Relationships (SPR) team, the SPR Intern will assist with projects as assigned. Provides services to SPR customers through performance of enrollment and contracting tasks. Performs operational tasks that support departmental responsibilities and goals. Interacts with individuals at all levels of the organization as necessary, using whatever communication means are needed (e.g. e-mail, phone calls, video calls, face to face meetings). Manages data and information and prepares reports and/or project summaries. Serves and participates on work teams as assigned. Actively participates in staff and committee meetings as assigned. Completes a project designed to benefit the healthcare system. Exercises technical abilities with respective software to support project and/or operational tasks. Proactively seeks out duties and responsibilities and appropriately prioritizes assignments. Meets with Manager/Mentor on a regular basis to discuss completed items, projects in progress, and potential projects. Participates in required educational activities and abides by Carilion Clinic and Clinical Information policies.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an academic program or recent graduate from an accredited undergraduate university.
  • Academic or professional experience in business, contracting, healthcare administration, health analytics, or development of policies and procedures related to business operations.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient computer and keyboard skills.
  • Ability to solve simple mathematical and logistical problems.
  • Efficient time management and ability to follow policies with minimal supervision.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and listening skills.
