Role As a Software Engineer Intern on the Data Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the next generation of our monitoring systems. You will research, evaluate, and prototype new cloud-based technologies to efficiently monitor and troubleshoot our robot fleet and platform, by integrating with Kubernetes based cloud and on-device services. You will collaborate with a passionate Product and Engineering team creating software that enables fleets of robots to be built better. How your work moves the mission forward Research and evaluate next-generation monitoring technologies to handle high-cardinality data, moving beyond our current legacy tools. Design and prototype a scalable foundation for cloud metric collection and graphing, ensuring our observability stack grows with our robot fleet. Build the architectural "skeleton" for a new telemetry system that enables deeper visibility into robot health and performance. Collaborate with the Data Infrastructure team to benchmark new solutions against existing baselines for speed, storage, and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Master’s student in Computer Science or related field required.
  • Proficiency in Golang or C++, with a strong foundation in software engineering principles.
  • Experience or interest in creating end-to-end robotics applications or have built/integrated robotic hardware (i.e. workcells) in industry.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), particularly focusing on Kubernetes deployments and distributed systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with distributed metric collection systems (e.g., Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, Thanos) or time-series database architecture.
