Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all. Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever. As a Data Science Intern at Micron Technology, you will apply advanced analytical methods, statistical modeling, and modern machine learning techniques to extract insights and build predictive solutions that drive efficiency, yield improvement, quality enhancement, and cost optimization across semiconductor manufacturing and business operations. You will work closely with data scientists, engineers, and cross-functional domain experts to define analytical questions, evaluate data readiness, design experiments, and operationalize models. This role offers hands-on experience with real-world datasets and exposure to end-to-end data science workflows, from data acquisition and feature engineering to model development, validation, and deployment.

Requirements

  • BS degree in statistics, physics, computer science, engineering, applied mathematics, data science or related field, with the intentions of completing a MS or Ph.D. in one of these fields or Data Science.
  • Must be a current student and must not graduate before Dec. 2027.
  • Strong desire to apply data science to solve complex technical and business challenges such as improving yield, reducing cycle time, optimizing processes, or enhancing product quality.
  • Working knowledge of SQL or other query languages for data extraction, transformation, and integration.
  • Ability to handle datasets of varying size and complexity, from small-scale experimental data to large-scale manufacturing or sensor data.
  • Proficiency in Python, with the ability to write clean and reproducible analysis scripts.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts (regression, classification, clustering, etc.) and willingness to learn advanced methods such as deep learning, computer vision, or generative AI.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong problem-solving skills with logical approach.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated, proactive, with a strong work ethic, able to work independently and collaborate effectively with people from different culture backgrounds.
  • Internship duration: 6 to 12 months
  • Preferred start date: May 2026

Responsibilities

  • Conduct exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and model development using modern statistical and machine learning methods.
  • Apply techniques across one or more domains such as signal processing, image analytics, time-series analysis, anomaly detection, optimization, and predictive modeling.
  • Implement and evaluate machine learning algorithms, including classical ML, deep learning, and generative AI techniques where appropriate.
  • Develop software, scripts, and automated workflows to cleanse, integrate, and analyze large-scale datasets from diverse sources.
  • Work with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data, applying data quality, data governance, and reproducibility best practices.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to translate analytical findings into actionable insights and deployable solutions.
  • Utilize cloud platforms (GCP, Snowflake, etc.) and modern data engineering pipelines to support scalable model development and experimentation.
