For this role, we believe your starting point is: Enrolled at a junior-level or higher in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Chemical/Environmental Engineering, Geology or Hydrology/Hydrogeology. Ability and willingness to work as a responsible, independent team player in a consulting environment, including the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills with ability to meet tight deadlines and budgets.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Access; experience with GIS mapping and/or AutoCAD are a plus.
  • Completion of the OSHA 40-hour health and safety training course (Ramboll will arrange for training if the candidate is not certified).
  • Ability to drive, travel and/or perform field work out of the office at least 75% of the time.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and reliable form of vehicular transportation.
  • The successful candidate will need to provide evidence of a good driving record (motor vehicle record) and proof of personal insurance coverage.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform the following actions while conducting fieldwork: stooping/kneeling/crouching, standing for long periods of time, pulling/pushing and lifting equipment and supplies, walking on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments, cold, and hot/arid conditions.
  • Ability and willingness to work in proximity to loud noises and hazards (i.e., proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, and exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, and gases).

Nice To Haves

  • experience with GIS mapping and/or AutoCAD are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing field investigations including air, soil vapor, soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling programs under the direction of a registered Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer.
  • Implementing remedial activities and conducting system operation and maintenance at commercial and industrial sites.
  • Overseeing soil gas probe and monitoring well installation, development, and sampling.
  • Classifying soil in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System.
  • Tabulating and analyzing data, including preparation of figures and charts.
  • Preparing permit applications and/or overseeing implementation of permit conditions.
  • Understanding federal, state, and local environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Setting up work orders, scheduling and overseeing subcontractors with minimal supervision.
  • Contributing to technical report preparation based on the results of field sampling activities.
  • Following corporate health and safety standards.
