Purpose & Objective of Position The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Intern will have the opportunity to learn about how the OHS team at Grifols Biologicals, influences the site safety culture. Responsibilities of the OHS Intern will include:  

Requirements

  • Candidate must be currently enrolled in a university, pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Environmental and Occupational Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related program.
  • Candidate must currently have GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in teams
  • Understanding of basic OSHA, Cal OSHA, EPA, and other EHS regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with OHS team on various safety improvement projects
  • Leading the transformation of the Emergency Eyewash and Shower program to a paperless based process for tracking routine testing of the systems.
  • Lead the project of rolling out Emergency Management board design, assembling, and installation through the campus.  Boards will include area maps, emergency management binders, key chemicals within the different areas, emergency contact information, etc.
  • Lead the transformation of the Safety Gemba program to a paperless based process for tracking and documenting actions and findings.
  • Assisting with research into OSHA, NFPA, and other federal and state mandated safety regulations, or other internal regulatory standards for Health & Safety
  • Promoting safety culture throughout the facility
  • Assisting with near miss data collection, metric reporting and corrective action close-out
