About The Position

Life Unlimited. At Smith+Nephew we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living. The Robotics Software Engineering Intern will work with the Robotics New Product Development team to develop next generation products in the field of surgical robotics. Duties may include participating in the entire software development life-cycle which includes reviewing requirements, doing design, implementing the design, unit testing and integration testing. What will you be doing? Work closely with managers to complete specifically identified internship projects Present project conclusion to senior leadership Create documentation as required by the Smith and Nephew Robotics Quality Management System Planned Start Date: May 2026 Program Length: 12 weeks Location: Pittsburgh, PA What will you need to be successful? Education: Current student of bachelor, master, or phd majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or similar field of study. Must be in excellent academic standing, with a 3.0 minimum GPA preferred Experience: Previous applicable intern, co-op, part-time or apprenticeship experience is preferred Competencies: Knowledge of C++ and other object-oriented languages is preferred. Ability to describe design using UML is preferred. Demonstrated leadership experience with effective project management experience preferred Strong communication skills including technical writing, listening and speaking; ability to influence others High learning agility with the ability to analyze and synthesize data and then present it to senior leaders Must be able to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and drive project completion Independent thinking and the ability to work within a team is required Ability to assess technical issues and develop solutions using an analytical approach to problem solving Requires the ability to manage tight deadlines, multiple tasks, assignment changes, periodic heavy workload, rapidly changing technology, and dynamic business growth; time management and organization skills are a must You. Requirements
