About The Position

The Research & Development Engineer Intern position at Subaru of America offers students a chance to gain hands-on experience in connected car technologies. Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Current Juniors, Seniors planning to pursue a Master's Degree, or students currently enrolled in a Master's Program.
  • Must be an active student for the entire length of the internship.
  • At least 1 year of work experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge in Python, C++, or JAVA.
  • Knowledge around Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Azure.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supports software system tests, programming, and documentation.
  • Analyzes North American customer data and technical trends to determine user demands.
  • Consults with other vehicle development engineers to evaluate interfacing, operational, and performance requirements of overall systems mainly in cockpit.
  • Collects data from prototype systems, cleans/prepares the data, analyzes the data, and draws conclusions on the testing results.
  • Supports the development of internal software solutions for data analysis, data ingestion, or web applications using Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Service, or Microsoft Azure.
  • Constructs and adapts data models to support analysis work.
  • Supports Proof of Concept (PoC) stage for developing Subaru's next generation infotainment system, cockpit system including meters, displays, buttons, etc.
  • Keeps data logs and writes technical reports.
  • Supports the maintenance of internal web applications.
  • Collaborates with other technical experts including product managers, UI/UX designers, marketing experts, and provides perspectives as a Gen Z user.
